What's the "Bigger purpose" of what your doing?
?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Do you know the story about the two stone cutters? When asked what he's doing the the first man replies "I'm cutting this stone into bricks." When the second laborer was asked what be was doing he replies" I'm building a temple".

How much do we do in a a day with our nose to the "grindstone"? Focused making a list, checking it twice..done, done, done!

But what have we done. Really?

There is a Big Real behind everything that we do. Sometimes it's a negative Big Real, sometimes it's a positive Big real.

I'm not posting my blog. I'm evoking the truth.

I'm not cleaning my house. I'm making it into a Zen Temple in which I can hear myself think and we can cozy up. (Okay I'm just joking with that one. Vacuuming is vacuuming and it sucks hard. Pun! I know I just caught it) but you get my point.

Whats become predictable and auto pilot for a great dream? or vision or bad plot, we really don't need to participate in.

Working overtime? Maybe your making sure you can take that vacation to the Caribbean?

Hauling your ass out of bed to run? How about; connecting with the power of your body and tapping into your creative being.

Waiting on tables? How about: teaching loving, kindness and nurturing?

Look Up! Zoom back from the tasks and see the holy weaving of our time, and love and action. Make it matter because it does!

Last Night Delicious Dinner!

Last night Greg and I took in dinner in a movie at Sarah and Laszlo's house (sister and bro-in-law). Sarah made a delicious Butternut Squash and white Bean "Bisque" with a yogurt garnish. Bisque usually means cream right, well the white beans were added to replace the cream and the non fat plain yogurt was also added for creaminess and for a little zing. It was delicious and very nutritious. I brought some fresh baked banana muffins that went great with the soup. I definitely would eat that again and again! Just a way to remind people that healthy food is delicious and simple to prepare, and inexpensive Too! Cheers!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOO YOU!!! AND MANY MORE...

SO TODAY 11/12 IS MY MOM'S BIRTHDAY... AND WE (GREG AND I) DECIDED WE SHOULD HAVE MY MOM, DAD, SISTER(SARAH) AND BRO-IN-LAW (LASZLO) OVER TO CELEBRATE. MOM SUGGESTED PIZZA... BUT WHO WANTS THAT WHEN YOU CAN GO TO THE BEST RESTAURANT IN TOWN!!! MY HOUSE!!!

I'm sure your wonder what we had for our delicious birthday feast..i guess I can give you the menu:

Mom K's Fabou birthday menu:

Appetiser:

Celery Volute, garnished with spicy peanut butter creme fraiche and persimmons (A fancy way of saying soup that is made with a white stock, fish, chicken, vegetable and thickened with a white roux, butter and flour cooked together then added to the stock to thicken. Creme fraiche is the French's' version of sour cream.)

Entree:

Chicken Confit stuffed with fig and chevre over butternut squash flan, sweet pickled red cabbage, granny smith apples, onions. (I bet you are wondering what confit means? It's actually a very ancient cooking method from France used to preserve meat, traditionally it would be salted and cooked very slowly in it's own fat for about 12 hours, then packed in a crock covered in it's cooking fat, which acts as a seal to preserve. Now we cook in olive oil or some sort of veg oil. It is still cooked very slowly and end result is the very moist and flavorful meat that falls apart. Chevre is a Delicious creamy lightly tangy goat cheese.)

Dessert:

Fresh baked Cherry Pie a la mode

It was one delicious event at the best restaurant in town!

Happy birthday Mom!!!

CHEERS!!!!

From Sea to Shining Sea.....

Sunday afternoon Greg and Paul (Greg's Dad) Performed at The Palladium for America Remembers A Veterans Day Tribute. Singing many patriotic songs and even starring "the Andrews Sisters" (of course the are not the orig anal group, but they were great).Greg and Paul have been singing with The SPC Concert Chorus for a few years now and enjoy it quite a bit. All the veterans past and present were saluted and remembered and all enjoyed a patriotic concert.
Here's a small piece of history on The Palladium if you didn't know. The First Church of Christ, Scientist was built in 1925. In 1998 the building was purchased by The Palladium Theatre Company which renovated it while preserving much of the interior, including the 1926 Skinner organ along with the arts and crafts period tile work. In 2007 the Palladium was given to St. Petersburg College with the commitment of operating it as a community theatre, while adding college functions.

YOU CAN EAT CAKE!!!!!

Happy Birthday Dad!!!!

Dad(with a brand new birthday gift of Drambuie) my Mom and Hubby Greg. Saturday was my dads birthday. So the family got together to celebrate with all the necessary birthday festivities. My sister Sarah and I cooked a delicious dinner. I know you are wondering what was on the menu? We had the infamous homemade ceasar salad with the secret recipe dressing with fresh garlic and herb croutons. Fresh lemon and olive oil oven roasted mangrove snapper, a melange of delicious fresh vegetable that included summer squashes ( which we grow here in the fall)along with winter acorn squash. Delicious green beans and a few more!

So after a champagne toast and dinner we retired to the family room for the great tradition of birthday gifts. The boys (Laszlo and Greg) made sure that there was the gift of Drambuie so the time honored tradition of Rusty Nails can continue! After presents it was a rousing game of Trivial Pursuit.. Gents against the Ladies which seems how we team up. The Gents did win by a narrow margin, but that was OK because it was Dads birthday! Then of there was birthday Cake, after candles and singing plus all the birthday hoopla we all had some delicious homemade black forest. ooh it was soooo good!!!
